August 16th, 2012 8:59am
With controversy swirling around the Integrated Case Management system, and with the introduction of the “Smart CareCard” just around the corner, the upcoming BC Information Summit promises to be a timely examination of how information management is changing throughout this province.
Our final conference lineup is now confirmed and we’re excited to announce some fantastic additions to an already outstanding team of speakers. On September 19th, we’re extremely pleased to welcome, among many others:
> Elizabeth Denham, BC Information and Privacy Commissioner
> Suzanne Legault, Information Commissioner of Canada.
> Colin Bennett, surveillance and privacy expert; professor of Political Science at the University of Victoria
> Expert panelists including Micheal Vonn (Policy Director, BCCLA), Bill Trott (Manager of Access, Privacy, and Policy at UVic), Alexis Kerr (Director of Legal Services & General Legal Counsel, Fraser Health Authority), and Herb Lainchbury (OpenDataBC.ca)
With contributors drawn from legal, government, advocacy, and academic backgrounds, this year’s event will showcase Government 2.0 and what it means for our information rights in a changing legal landscape. The full agenda is available on the Info Summit website
Lawyers get an extra benefit. The Information Summit has also been accredited by the Law Society of BC as a Continuing Professional Development Course. See the https://www.lawsociety.bc.ca/apps/cpd/detail_course.cfm?course_id=23381:"course listing" for details.
