Becoming a Director

FIPA is seeking to grow our volunteer Board of Directors.

As a board member you help to shape the strategic direction of FIPA. You gain experience in nonprofit governance, access to professional development resources, and become part of an active extended network.

FIPA is looking for people who can contribute skills, expertise, and knowledge to the governance of the organization. We are striving to diversify the voices and perspectives represented on the Board, as outlined in our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Policy.

The FIPA Board operates remotely, and membership is not restricted by geography. Directors attend a virtual monthly meeting. Additional work between meetings varies according to your interests, expertise, and availability as well as the organization’s needs.  For example, some directors participate in FIPA committees and provide mentorship by helping FIPA support a variety of professional experience and co-op students.

If you are interested in learning more, please contact or send a brief introduction and expression of interest to: secretary AT fipa.bc.ca

Directors may be appointed by the Board to fill vacancies, and appointees must stand for election at the next AGM of the Society. Existing FIPA members can be elected through the FIPA Policy: Director Nomination Process and anyone can become a member here.
