About Us:
The B.C. Freedom of Information and Privacy Association is a non-profit, non-partisan society established in 1991 to promote and defend freedom of information and privacy rights in Canada. Through extensive work in litigation, policy and law reform, research, and public assistance and education, we empower citizens by increasing their access to information and strengthening their control over their own personal information.
About You:
You are a thoughtful, articulate communicator with a keen interest in public policy, civil liberties, and organizational development. You also possess strong media/marketing and project management skills, and have experience in and an aptitude for raising funds. Ideally, you hold at least an undergraduate degree in communications, project management, public policy, political science, or a related field, and bring to FIPA at least two years professional experience. You are open to and enthusiastic about collaborative and team-based work, but also capable of keeping projects on track and delivering results according to set deadlines.
Job Description:
This is a full-time position, reporting to the Executive Director. The Program Director’s primary duty is to support the growth and development of the Association while assisting the Executive Director in service provision, administration, communication and policy work. The Program Director’s responsibilities fall into four main areas. They include but are not limited to:
Fundraising and Development
Communications and Outreach
Member Services and Administration
Event Coordination and Special Projects
