After careful consideration and deliberation, FIPA is finally joining the Facebook world, at least for a trial period.
But first, we want to make a few things clear:
We have decided to make use of Facebook because – and simply because – it’s another way to engage with people. Facebook is the most used social media platform in Canada, with 14 million people logging in every day – that’s over half of Canada’s internet users!
Facebook has become an important tool for popular education, a way to raise issues, and a means to bring communities together – it has become the backbone of most non-profits and advocacy organizations including many other privacy-minded organizations and experts.
With all that said, we do recognize that Facebook has many problematic policies and practices relating to users’ privacy, and we want to hear from you, our members.
Just send us an e mail at fipa@fipa.bc.ca and let us know what you think.
This an experiment, and we want to know that you are on board with what we are doing.
