You have the right to submit a complaint if you believe that either your request has not been properly fulfilled or you have been mistreated. If you live in BC, you can file a complaint through the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia for matters involving private sector organizations or provincial public bodies. For matters regarding federal public bodies, you can file a complaint to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Additionally, you also have the right to request your information to be corrected. If the public body does not agree with your request, they must at least note that you have requested a change, and the request should be attached to the file.
For more information about your rights after you file, please visit the appropriate “After You File” sections in our personal information resource, general information resource, or complaint and review mechanism resource.
