A provincewide grassroots movement will be coming to the streets of Georgetown.
The Georgetown Fight Ford demonstration is scheduled for Saturday, May 30, running from 1 to 2 p.m.
According to the organizers’ website, which acts as an extension of two Facebook groups related to sharing news of upcoming protests, residents planning to attend will gather at the intersection of Guelph Street and Mountainview Road North, joining 60 rallies taking place simultaneously across Ontario.
The demonstrations are driven by a variety of provincial issues, including the construction of Highway 413 and the weakening of protections for endangered species and conservation authorities as well as changes to Freedom of Information requests.
Halton Hills Climate Action (HHCA) will also be attending the demonstration and encourage attendees to “make a sign” and “bring a sign” though extra signs will be available at the site for anyone who wants one.
Attendees can find HHCA members during the rally by looking for a large green banner on one of the intersection’s corners. From there, demonstrators plan to “gradually spread out” to occupy all four corners of the intersection to maximize visibility.
Residents looking to attend rallies outside of Georgetown can find the full list of locations here.
